Emily’s World Cafe second gig Blog

The show that nearly didn’t happen… damn that dirty rat…

6/12

Our show at World Café tonight nearly DIDN’T HAPPEN! Hours before our anticipated arrival for setup, I received a frantic call from Carl saying that the proprietor had made a mistake and double-booked the show with a movie screening, and was canceling us. Rock and Roll and Chaos have long been fast friends, I guess. Being the natural diplomat that I am, I proposed a solution that allowed all parties to benefit: the movie was played inside, and Telepathic Dumpster played in World Café’s courtyard. It was a beautiful day out and the weather stayed clear for our two sets. This show was enhanced by the addition of Andrea Lee performing an opening and intermission set. Some impromptu intermingling of her tunes and ours occurred which was great fun for musicians and audience alike.

Telepathic Dumpster is ready to explode out of World Café’s unplugged format. We even got complaints from Sam Bond’s Garage next door for being “too loud”. We did our best to contain the energy, but the crowd was so into it, and we musicians were ready to take them away on a Telepathic Dumpster ride. However, the anchor had been set and the magic carpet had to stay on the ground. So it’s time to move on and get some new venues cooked up. Besides, it’s getting so hard to watch Carter restrain his humor for an all ages crowd. You can imagine how difficult it is for him to stay G-Rated.

What you can do to help: We are currently hitting up Black Forest and Cozmic Pizza for our next shows. When you are in their neighborhoods, stop by and mention that you’d love to see us there.
