Before and after blogs about our Black Forest debut. August 22? 2005 Hey there. I¡¯ve been up to my eyeballs in school-related work and looked up to discover that, meanwhile Telepathic Dumpster is becoming the rockin¡¯est band around town - totally. It¡¯s weird¡ it¡¯s like we¡¯re gaining this ground swell in all these little pockets. While we were recording our new demo with which to get better gigs, some friends/fans decided to host a houseparty for us ¨Cit was one of the coolest things I¡¯ve ever been a part of in a long time. (We¡¯re going to do it again, and you all should come.) Anyway, within 24 hours of handing off our demo to Black Forest ¨C The Club where we really wanted to play ¨C they were lining us up for a gig. So, in just over a week we are having our first ROCK venue debut in Eugene. No more sweet little all-ages, unplugged bullshit shows (okay, maybe there will still be some of those, too, but at least there¡¯s also this). Now our people can come see Carter do his full on obscenity-ridden stage performance and no one can stop him, for it¡¯s all in the name of art. We¡¯ll play some of our infectious hits like, Whale Sex, Fred¡¯s Slacks, Black Orifice, and Shuttlecock Rock. You can imagine how the wave is swelling. People are getting interested¡ the tickle is broad and wide, hissing across the surface, and we¡¯re primed to hook those wa(o)ndering souls in. People want Telepathic Dumpster; they need it. September 1, 2005 Last night¡¯s show at Black Forest was a rock and roll triumph. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting us. The place was comfortably full, and for a Wednesday in Eugene¡¯s ¡°off-season¡± of summer, that is saying something. Isaac at the soundboard gave us everything we needed on stage, and word from the other side was that the sound was better than ever. Amen. The money we made from the bar is going straight into the duplication of our latest homespun CD, Dirty Rat. Sounds like we¡¯ll be back at the Black Forest in September, on a night closer to the weekend, sharing the bill with other acts. A quick review of last night¡¯s memorable performance: The set opened with Groove On, then Shuttlecock Rock, and by midway through Pretty Old Train I was swept up in the mind-dizzying euphoria of musical _expression. I wasn¡¯t sure if I was going to fall off my drum throne or stay on, but I felt I was on a wild horse and all I could do was trust and keep banging away on those drums. I never tamed the mare, but I always stayed with her. We hit some ¡°old¡± classics like Country Bob, Exactly, and introduced some newer stuff like Follow. Of course, that one was debuted at the Houseparty, of which we hope to have more. We took a brief set break and then came back with Xanadu-wop, which had never left the rehearsal space until that moment, and she stayed afloat and won some fans on her maiden voyage. Black Orifice hit an all new high of intensity, sending me into another solar system. It seems like we barely touched the ground before gliding into other newer wonders like Satan¡¯s Baby and Whale Sex. The set officially ended with When This Dream Is Done, but we stuck around and played another handful of songs in the drop-D tuning: Gold ¡ú Moonbook, and then Roots. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us. The Dumpster Divers mailing list grew by six and we¡¯ll be sure to let y¡¯all know when you can catch up with us again. |
